Instagram, week 51, 2013: Sunset over dowtown Porto. "It just fell" graffito on the exposed walls of a house that fell apart because of the (sloppy?) construction work next door. The day's last sunny rays at a staircase railing. A shelfie taken at my office. The Mercado do Bom Sucesso, which was and is still supposed to be a fresh produce market, but instead became a banner for 'urban renewal' through tourist-friendly hotels and homogenized, pasteurized 'gourmet' shops (as if these can be set in a chilly, concrete monstrous hall); having spent a few days filming the events of a Book Festival held there, I came to intensely dislike the architecture. Testing an old Pentacon lens on my digital SLR.

Instagram, week 50, 2013: I have to admit sometimes I too have a hard time spelling the word 'graffiti' — is it two Fs or two Ts? A building without a door — we do have lots of those. At least, ceramic tiles (locally known as azulejo) still survive in some buildings. Sunset over downtown Porto.

Instagram, week 49, 2013: after giving away my copy of Thomas Pynchon's The Crying of Lot 49 I felt my bookshelves were incomplete, so I had to order a new (used) one. Tested VSCOCam for Android — it has some nice filters for people bored with Instagram's, but it is still very buggy. I made the conscious decision to place my Peanuts comic books in my Philosophy shelf. Annoyed by the Christmas music at the second-hand market, I bought a Prince record.

Instagram, week 48, 2013: an old bookstore's catacombs. My favourite toy cars from when I was a little kid had a paint job for a stop-motion animation appearance (more on that soon).

Instagram, week 47, 2013: including live painting by Daniel Padure and Constança Araújo Amador at the MEXE festival. A tribute to the selection of selfie as Word of the Year by the Oxford English Dictionary's lexicographers. An addressed envelope found on a used copy of Herbert Read's Education Through Art. A selection of brooms. Nuts and dried fruits on display at a grocery store.

Instagram, week 44, 2013. Littered streets after a (stupid and pseudo-traditional) academic fraternity party. N.N.T. defends procrastination in The Bed of Proscrutes. That time during the afternoon the sunlight hits my desk just right. How sad it is to find the used book I bought had been a Christmas gift. A ticket office with a sign that says "Listen the other one listening" (from the 2007 archives, can't remember the context). Decorated my office with a vintage public domain poster. RU+A continues — the finished intervention by the Maniaks collective. Playing cards with Elvises (from the 2008 archives). A friend, the illustrator Constança Araújo Amador, has a new exhibition at the Cadeira de van Gogh here in Porto, check it out. The Futureplaces Impromptu All-Stars Orchestra presented Daft Phunk, a very funny (and very noisy!) concert. Testing my (first) cameraphone — a Panasonic clamshell that was rather satisfying to use — at my father's office (from the 2006 archives).

Instagram, week 43, 2013: more RU+A project graffiti interventions in Cedofeita by Mesk, Third (finishing his painting of Billie Holiday) and the Maniaks collective; Hélia Aluai's earlier intervention has a rather interesting effect when backlit at night.

And also: a (rather central) building that resembles something out of Gotham City — hadn't noticed it before! Yellow truck involved in that endless roadwork at the doorstep of the college where I work. And it's nice to see Ari the cat growing up.
